Whirlpool at Mabouya is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located at Deefer Diving, Main Street, Hillsborough, Carriacou, Grenada. The maximum depth is 71-80ft/22-24m. The average visibility is 51-60ft/16-18m. This dive site provides bathrooms and airfills.
Whirlpool at Mabouya aka The Magic Garden. The dive starts with a visit to the wreck of John D. Wacka at around 22 m a short distance from the mooring. This is a pretty little wreck with an accessible wheelhouse (complete with wheel which makes for a great photo). It is also home to a large number of sergeant majors. The dive then continues at a shallower depth to the Magic Garden/Whirlpool, which features curtains of bubbles produced by volcanic activity as well as amazing colourful corals. Marine life includes jacks, chromis, butterfly fish, spiny lobster, and a green moray that has been spotted inside the wreck on several occasions. As with all dive sites within the Sandy Island/Oyster Bay Marine Protected Area, all divers must be accompanied by a qualified local dive guide.
