Garbage IslandI watched a documentary on www.vbs.tv yesterday that really opened my eyes. There is a section in the Pacific Ocean they now call Garbage Island. Because of currents between North America and Asia, tiny plastic particles, plastic oil containers, nets, tires, you name it is in the water just above the Hawaiian Islands.

I’m not what you’d necessarily call a "tree hugger" (and no offence to those who are) but since I’ve become a diver I have changed a lot of habits such as recycling and buying products that are good for the environment. I love diving and hate seeing beer bottles, fishing line, plastic bags, etc. in the ocean.

All sorts of marine animals frequent this area they call Garbage Island and it’s very disturbing thinking about them eating these particles.

Please watch this documentary and remember to recycle!

Also, please be warned there are some "f bombs" dropped so be careful watching around children.

I was so shocked after watching these videos. I don’t even know what to say. It breaks my heart. We all have to do our part to change the way we consume, or the world we love will be no more.
