I enjoyed a great trip to the west coast during the 1st week of July. Arrived on the 2nd of July and just hung out with family. On the third I went out with ScubaLuv to dive Catalina who’s waters were spectacularly blue and full of sea life. Dove LaJolla and San Diego also later in the week.
I’m a little dissapointed that I didn’t get to meet any of my West Coast Dive Buddies... handed out lots of DiveBuddy cards and invited lots to people to check out the site.
Of my six dives only one did I hook up with a dive buddy despite asking all the other divers. The remaining 5 dives I had to go it solo; which was OK but I’d really rather dive with a buddy.
I don’t want to go into the excuses I was given and I don’t think it was a "coastal thing". I showered and put on deodorant, brushed my teeth and shaved.
I know diving is a huge industry in Cali and maybe that contributed to it’s mechanical feel in dive shops and other venues.
Despite all that the waters were beautiful and I didn’t particularly find them any cooler then the east coast waters (I was advised that they would be).
I had a wonderful time with my family and plan to make the trip yearly. I’m really looking forward to teaming up with some of my buddies on the "Left Coast" in the future so look for my post "Coming to Cali" and if you’ve got the time let’s dive, dive, dive!!!
