DUI has posted their official/tentative dates for the Dry Suit/DUI DOG Rally!
If you have at least an open water cert and would like to learn about and explore dry suits without the pressure to buy, then this event IS for you! Sales talk is not supposed to be allowed at the event, dive as much as you can within safe limits and your air supply, use their dry suits, try as many different models as you want, even try out some underwater cameras while you’re at it. The DUI crew will educate you on how to fit yourself to a dry suit, so be sure to ask questions and don’t just go through the motions.
What you’ll need: your regulator (should be environmentally sealed for some locations due to water temps below 50 degrees), BCD, weights (they may have trim systems available to try), tank w/ air, Open Water C-card (temp cards may be accepted at some locations, ask DUI first), Log Book (you want to log these fun dives!), mask, fins, hood. Of course, if you want to truly experience the difference, bring your own wet suit, hood, and booties to make the wet dive after the dry dive.
Tickets are currently $8 pre-event and $13 on-site/day of the event; they may be ordered online through DUI or at a local DUI dealer. If they keep to tradition, you should receive lunch, a free test diver hat (surely that cost covers the price of the ticket without the dive), and a raffle entry.
http://www.dui-online.com/dog_main.aspx Drop me a line if you plan on attending the Branson, Mo. dates: April 25/26, 2009. I may be offering a dry suit class at a discount if enough interest is generated. Of course, DiveBuddy members will receive an extra perk on a dry suit cert. All depends on the weather, we got flooded out April 2008.
