The month of April is the end of the great Divemaster course for myself! I feel just as excited as I did when I knew I was close to the end of my open water course back in 2006. It has been a long learning process since the beginning of them open water days as well as a lot of work. My plans for becoming a Divemaster were never for a career choice, only for the opportunity to learn more about the safe ways of diving.
I am very proud of myself for all the accomplishments I have received as I am for my instructor for the outstanding job he has done. After working with students I’m not so sure that the instructor’s get the credit they deserve. Myself as a student has I’m sure tested his skills on more than one occasion, but the tests make us better divers down the road.
For the chance to learn all the fundamentals of diving I would do it all over again. So for those of you that have been thinking about continued education in diving, I strongly encourage you to pursue to opportunity to do so! Not only will it help you be a better, safer diver but it gives you the chance to help other divers as well.
