Ocean Divers IDC Day 2 Well,
I woke up early getting ready for our first pool session. I walk out to the truck. I go to throw my rucksack into the truck. I look at the backseat it looks a little empty. I look in the front seat and stuff is thrown all over the place. I walk around to the passenger side and see paperwork from the glove box. I see my Master Scuba Diver bag has been dumped out. OMG!!!!!!!! I have been robbed. They got my Regulator Set, My EFR Instructor Crew Pack, My Dive Master Crew pack, My Rescue Diver Crew pack, My Underwater Connection Gym Bag with all of my PADI DVDs, my Housing for my Digital Camera, and My log book with all of my C-cards, RDP, Nitrox Cards, Wheel, and ERDP. They also took the Cell phone that had committed suicide the day before. I wonder how I am going to explain that to the insurance company. I was freaking out. We had a couple of guys bum cigarettes from my Dorm mates at about 11 pm last night. I just one dude saying God Bless you guys.
I drove to the Ocean Divers Main Store. I got the phone number for the police. I called and waited. The Police came. The officer took my information and dusted the car for prints. It was great effort on her part.
Georgia held the class up for me so I could deal with the police. We started an hour late in the pool. My head was anywhere, but in the pool. We worked on doing the Skill circuit. We got a lot done. It was really good to see how the other guys did the skills. Georgia demonstrated several skills. It made me feel that I have a lot of practice ahead of me to get my skills to that level. We finished with the pool. We broke down all of the equipment and headed back to the class room. We talked about Project Aware and Peak Performance Buoyancy before Lunch.
After Lunch, We talked about PADI Continuing Education Philosophy and Developing Knowledge Development Presentations. We got our KD assignments and broke from class. I walked out of the Classroom and had a free beet on Dick. I finished it and walked to the bar and ordered a Mojito. It was necessary. I sat and talked with people and accepted the stuff was gone. What a day.
I do have to say the support from the Ocean Divers was awesome. I couldn’t have asked for more. I also have to say thanks to Clay and Roxanne who are helping me out back in New Jersey. They are the great. Stay tuned for Tomorrow’s Chapter in the IDC Saga.

I am very sorry to hear that happened. The scum that did it will get what’s coming to them one way or the other.

You have a good attitude about it. It is only stuff that can be replaced. You will bounce back stronger and better because of this.

Good luck with the class and thanks for keeping us in the loop

Be sure to alert the local dive shops and sites in the area. The stuff sometimes ends up showing up there and then you or local cops can nab the low life ^%$# [ at ] %(. If you have serial numbers photos or the like it all helps. We ahve recovered rental gear that . . . walked out in this manner.

Hope this helps

Hi Brion,

So sorry that happened to you. People like that have a special place in hell! I’m glad you’re able to rise above it and move on.

I’ve really enjoyed reading about your experiences. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming. Have a wonderful day!
