Divefest in Cornwall, England
If you’re in the UK in spring time and your into diving then Dive fest may be well worth a visit. Dive fest has three main things going for it; firstly it’s the only UK festival set up specifically for divers with several hard boats and a shuttle service of ribs taking people out to various local dive sites. Secondly it takes place in Cornwall, a very pleasant, and at this time of year very quiet corner of the UK that has its own special character with as much in common with Wales or Ireland as with the rest of England. Thirdly Dive fest is one of, if not the first festival of the UK season and, although it can easily rain non-stop for 72 hours in Cornwall at this time of year, if the sun dose stay out the spring time landscapes can be spectacular.
The festival is small by UK standards, approx 1500 people, it is held over three days on the Mayday national holiday. The venue is a campsite with its own private beach and absolutely first class shower/toilet facilities.
As well as the opportunity to go diving the festival features live bands, circus skills, fire dancing and other festival type entertainment. Being a dive fest it also has some more outdoors orientated attractions including survival skills, beach Olympics, an underwater treasure hunt, dolphin rescue demonstrations and, weather permitting, a bonfire on the beach.
