Just got home from a 10 day liveaboard trip to Komodo Indonesia arranged by my dive shop in NYC. The trip to Bali was exhausting (24 hrs fly time) but well worth it. Diving the tropical Pacific was fabulous. We saw sharks, mantas, eagle rays, turtles, nudibrancs and beautiful corals.....oh and of course the dragons. I would go again in a heart beat. However one BIG word of caution that I really wish someone had told me, be sure, if you decide to do a liveaboard, make sure you go with people you like, preferably with a partner. Mostly everyone on the boat was very nice but they were all friends from prior trips. It’s easy to feel isolated and lonely especially when you’re in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone reception and no internet. Next time, I’ll do a resort with day trips.
