Points of Interest: Hey! It’s a U-Boat! What more needs to be said?
Fish/Animal Life: The usual array of NC marine life, with unusually smart grouper and small tropical fish.

This is the wreck that most of the people first come to North Carolina to dive. The wreck is small and intact and can be circumnavigated a couple of times during a normal dive. It is sitting on its keel, with a strong (45 degree?) list to the starboard side. Most of what you see on the bottom is the remains of the pressure hull. The U-boat’s outer casing has, for the most part, rusted away. For experienced NC divers, the biggest challenge of the U-352 is waiting for the boat captain to hook the wreck. It’s small size and rounded edges make it the one the captains love to hate. New NC divers, however, beware. For some reason, over the years, the U-352 has claimed more that its fair share of diving accidents and fatalities.

I recently returned to the U-352 after not diving it....at least in the daylight...for nearly a decade. Did two dives on it and had a unexpectedly good time each dive. The wreck has some classic "Kodak moments" and has an abundance of small to mid-size marine life. The starboard propeller has uncovered...something I certainly don’t remember from 10 years ago and the bow seems to have collapsed and twisted a bit more. A fun dive, but still gets a bit crowded for my tastes if you are diving more than a "6 pack" or another boat beats you to the site.

This is one of my all time favorite dives. We went on a small charter and only had five divers in the water. Vis was amazing. You could almost see the bow of the boat from the stern and this boat is 220’ long.

Great wreck to dive. It’s very small so you can see all of the wreck and lots of animals in a short period of time. Visibility is usualy better than it was when I was here.

Amazing wreck of World War II. Being able to dive war graves is an amazing expericance, especially being former military.

Had a great time on this dive. The entire wreck was covered in fish and saw a giant sea turtle and 2 sunfish.

I love this dive! I did not get to explore it like I wanted because my buddy had computer malfunction and we had to abort dive, but we look forward to doing it again soon. There were so many fish that we could not even see the sub! Can’t wait to try it out again!

It took about six trips to NC before I finally got to dive the U-352! It was always the conditions aren’t right or the operator didn’t want to go there or there were new divers on the boat and it was too deep. . .

Great Dive!

If you are a history lover and a diver, it is a must see. This boat is not a sunken vessel for the reef prograp. It is a true war vessal sunken by combat. Note, the U-352 was the first U-Boat sunk by allied forces during WWII. Pretty awesome that the average Joe can go see that.

Get there, it’s worth the trip. The sea is doing it’s work quickly, so don’t delay!

As a former Navy Submariner, this was a little heavy for me...brothers...enemies but still brothers still in there. If you’re not qualified you wouldn’t understand.
