This is a super fun dive. You start in a county park and hop on a pontoon boat that drops you off up-river. You drift dive back to the park in crystal clear water enjoying the fish and underwater landscape. I highly recommend this dive for any level diver. Even if your group has their required dive flag, make sure you bring a dSMB and a spool in case you’re separated from your flag carrier.

Drift dives are not really my thing but there are lots of unique things to see here and if you miss your get out point you can always end up at Swampy’s

Finished my 3rd and 4th open water dive cert here, on 11/21/18. It was beautiful. A slow current, great visibility and a fair amount of aquatic life to see. Kayak, canoe, boating, snorkeling, and diving are all availavle here. $5 per person to get into the park (no parking fee).

Completed dives 3 and 4 of my open water certification here. Interesting drift dive. Water taxi from KP Hole County Park provides upstream transportation. Current moves at a pretty good clip for your drift dive back to KP hole park boat ramp. Water quality / visibility is very good, with plenty of fish, turtles, and birds to see.

Visiting the week of July 17-21 trying to find a local spot for me and my son to hit. This looks like a great place to go. Is it easy enough to put in at Rainbow and tell the rest of the family to meet at KP Hole? Wife and daughter do not dive, so trying to find a cool place for them to swim while we play.
Nitediver - 7/10/2017 9:20 PM
Water taxi will take you up river and drop you in. 45-60 min drift back to docks. Swim area right there for family. As well as food and other items . Easy dive 6 to 20 feet deep.

TalleyHo, what level of certification are you and your son? Ginnie is a great spot to dive, as well as Manatee Springs. Both places have amenities, and are friendly to swimmer, snorkeler, tubers. For lots of family fun and BBQ, go to Blue Springs Park in High Springs.
TalleyHo - 7/11/2017 4:36 PM
I’m AOW and he is OW. I’ll checkout Ginnie and Manatee Springs.

Check out my many photo albums on this site, to see the various dive options. Troy is another good one, as well as Blue Springs State Park, in Volusia county, Orange City. Your son could go to 60 foot in that one. No lights allowed without a cavern cert. though. Ginnie will let you take a light inside the Ginnie Springs Ballroom. Manatee has 2 holes there: Manatee, and Catfish Hotel. flickr.com/photos/santafesandy/sets/

Of course if you are in Williston, don’t neglect Blue Grotto, and Devil’s Den. Both beautiful. divebluegrotto.com/ and devilsden.com/

The entire family may enjoy these botanical gardens right next to Devil’s Den as well. All these places have camping and cottages, including Blue Grotto, for really affordable prices. cedarlakeswoodsandgarden.com/

Awesome picture.. We were the first group of the day for the boat Capt that day. As we were putting away our gear after the dive, he had come back and had talked about dropping all you off with the Santa suits..
