Mantoloking Shore "The China Wreck" is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located at 400 ft off Princeton Ave, Mantoloking, NJ. The maximum depth is 16-20ft/5-6m. The average visibility is under 5ft/2m.
The size of the boiler and engine would indicate this ship was about 150 to 200’ long and went down in the 1800 or 1900’s. The timbers are long gone and very little China is being found. There are some steel pipes in the area but nothing to ID the wreck.
Go down steps, turn south and go to the 6th home. The one story addition has two windows that extend into the roof, hopefully Sandy didn’t take that landmark. Swim out at 120 degrees, after you get past the surf check your bearings again. At high tide when the is less surge the wreck should be found in about 14’ of water.
After exploring the wreck head north to shorten the beach walk and maybe find something exposed
