Lake Murray is a shore accessible fresh water dive site, located at Lake Murray State Park, Ardmore, OK. This dive site has an average rating of 3.48 out of 5 from 25 scuba divers. The average visibility is 11-15ft/3-5m. This dive site provides bathrooms and airfills. Training platforms are available.

Most common place to dive in this lake is Marietta Landing in the southwest park of the lake.

MuttMutt - 11/21/2020 11:37 AM Rating Added: 3 Went out a couple times over the last summer. I found that heading out around the public swim area can be kind of fun. I ended up taking a mesh bag and started picking up old beer cans and such out of the water. Saw a few fish including a very large catfish that was chilling out in a hole about 25 feet down. Had previously went in down by the drain tower and really wasn’t a lot to see. Went down to 77 feet and it was pretty much pitch black though I did seem to encounter two thermoclines. One you reach around 30 feet and can play with in other sections and the other is closer to 60 feet or so. Surface temp was above 85, first thermocline dropped into the 70’s and the second dropped into the 60’s. youtube.com/watch?v=jMqAK4LbJ38 is a video from cleaning up some of the trash. Need to post my second cylinder of the day. Pulled a cell phone out that was in a dry bag and had been lost a year before. I was able to take and dry it out and return it to the young lady who lost it.

Free to veterans tho. They also blocked the trail to the Marietta landing dive site, with big boulders. We went on the 9th. Expect a couple of trips humping gear to the cove. Viz was 2ft (if that)and there was 2 holes in the 1st platform. It was nice to dive but a pain lumping gear to and from. MuttMutt - 11/21/2020 11:39 AM Yes, parking is 8.00 outside of the camping area if you have Oklahoma license plates otherwise it’s 10.00. It’s a little bit of a pain but if it helps to pay for some cleaning and such as well as some upgrades it’s not really a bad thing IMHO. Just wish people would pick up after themselves a little better.

halligan903 - 4/24/2020 6:37 PM I went scuba diving here on 4/24/2020. Average viz: Under 5ft/2m. Water temp: 56-60°F/13-16°C. Dove at the dive park today. No one else was there. Below 20ft vis was about a foot 15-20 ft improved to up to 5. My computer read 61 degrees, wifes read 57.

Scubadriver - 9/07/2018 11:43 AM I went scuba diving here on 9/3/2018. I went 2 weekends in a row, fun dives for a short drive. Bring a light for better viz. Viz was about 4’ on my early morning dive. And the temp was 72 to 79. I will go again just to keep diving.

Jayfarmlaw - 8/07/2018 11:24 PM Dove Marietta Landing 8-7-18, water was warm down to about 28 feet. My computer said 92 degrees, but I don’t trust it. Vis was normal OK lake vis, 3-4 feet. There were a few pockets that were better below the thermocline, but some worse above. Saw a huge carp while tying off my flag, a few small bass, several non aggressive perch. Worked the bank about 100 yards in each direction, finished up running the line from the first boat/platform, big boat, platform and back. Did find the gargoyle. Fun dive with a friend that drove up from Dallas. Would love to hear about other points to dive...with easier entries.

I saw blue channel cat, bass, drum, carps, crawfish hotels, and little bitty fishes of unknown species. The park was cleaner than I’ve ever seen it. Maybe they got a budget increase for picking up trash.

msauto - 7/30/2016 1:29 PM I dove here 7/20/16 for my last OW cert dive viz was 10-15 ft thermocline at 26 ft and as Bill said cold as heck below thermocline so much so that my instructor and i turned back because we were in shorts and tshirt. There is a nice underwater platform and line laid out for classes which are held most every weekend. If you want good viz come on a weekday or get here early on the weekend. According to my instructor there is a lot to see in this lake in different spots he has been doing classes here for aprox 15 years. Not sure where but somewhere near here there is a metal cutout of a shark that a freind of his made and planted and looks real until you get close just can’t remember where but i will surely find it and post back. BillParker - 7/31/2016 1:22 PM The shark sculptute is ~150 yards west of the steel tower on the south side of the lake. There are four boats near the shark. Some call that area Sharky’s Cove but I haven’t seen anyone there in two years. It’s my favorite place on the lake.

BillParker - 7/06/2016 10:29 PM I went scuba diving here on 7/6/2016. Average viz: 16-20ft/5-6m. Water temp: Over 85°F/29°C. We dove in the area west of the steel tower on the south side of the lake. Thermocline 15ft. Viz is still good above the thermocline. Below the thermocline the viz has improved since my last visit and is divable but just barely. It’s freezing cold below the thermocline but 80sF above it.

BillParker - 6/22/2016 9:03 PM I went scuba diving here on 6/22/2016. Average viz: 16-20ft/5-6m. Water temp: 81-85°F/27-29°C. At the area between the steel tower and the house boat conditions were pretty good. The thermocline was around 15ft. Above the thermocline the water is so warm you don’t need a wet suit. Viz was good above the thermocline. Below the thermocline it’s basically undivable at the moment. I saw 100s of fish of all sizes and two of the largest fresh water turtles I ever saw. The hydrilla is thankfully still dead so the shallow areas are accessible.

BillParker - 11/10/2015 6:27 PM I went scuba diving here on 11/10/2015. Average viz: 11-15ft/3-5m. Water temp: 66-70°F/19-21°C. Despite a sunny day I shortened the first dive and cancelled the second dive because I didn’t feel like toughing out the cooling water. The vis has taken a down turn since my last visit as well. It looks like they had some rain recently that muddied the water a little. By the time it settles out the water will be even cooler. I guess that’s it for this season. :-( I’ll miss those 90 minute warm water dives.

BillParker - 10/28/2015 5:47 AM I went scuba diving here on 10/27/2015. Average viz: 16-20ft/5-6m. Water temp: 66-70°F/19-21°C. The water has cooled off some but it’s not too late to get some dives in. All you need is clear skies and sunshine to warm up between dives. A propane heater helps when the trees block the sun. Diving on cloudy days is always a bad idea and worse idea the cooler the water. The first dive I roamed between the entrance and the steel tower. Near the tower I saw a small anchor and some rope. It was clean like it hadn’t been there very long. And it wasn’t tangled up in anything like they usually are. It was as if someone set it down there intentionally. I didn’t pick it up because I didn’t feel like lugging it over 100 yards under water at that moment. Shortly after I discovered a single jet fin with a spring strap. Nice. I pulled my mesh bag out and collected it and started picking up the usual beer cans/bottles. And then I discovered a small trash can lid labeled "Search & Recovery 3" and "Fire Fight Underwater Recovery". Interesting. The steel tower was where a diver died a few months ago during a training exercise. I now know the class was a search and recovery class. The anchor and trash can were part of the class and placed there as items for the student to search for. The fin was probably from the now deceased diver. The second dive I roamed between the entrance and the house boat and collected a bag of various trash. Bass are usually very shy but this time large ones were following me around hoping to eat what ever I disturbed from it’s hiding hole. Awhile back I noticed how large some of the zebra mussels are getting. I didn’t notice the largest ones have died for some unknown reason. It was a good day at the lake with two more fun dives. ram04769 - 10/28/2015 5:59 AM It sounds like you had a great and interesting time, Bill. There’s plenty of water in Maine. Go explore it and see what’s there.
