A Balao-class submarine built during World War II, seeing action in Korea as well as W.W.II. She saw service until she was retired in 1973. When the Maryland Artificial Reef Program was started, she was ecologically cleaned and sunk in her present location near the African Queen with which she is often dived. Built: 1944. Length: 311 ft. Depth: 70 ft. She can be easily penetrated due to the 4 large holes cut out of the top of each compartment and the inside hatches were kept in an open position.
