When lake level is at capacity the lake is up to 40 miles long with an average width of about 1.5 miles. Fish species - Largemouth bass, catfish, walleye, flathead and channel catfish, crappie, smallmouth, white bass and striped bass (true stripers, not hybrid) and bluegill. there is easy shore entrance an exit,, and theres also a boat landing, there is an island that was created by an old volcano, so theres plenty of volcanic rock underwater, theres also an old adobe fort underwater. There is food in the town of Elephant Butte and lodging,, I stayed in Truth or Consequenses the next town over where there are natural hot springs! I have placed the dive marker on the map where the marina is and the Area I was in. Note there is boating here use a dive flag and dive with a buddy or group
