Gregory Poole aka USS Cruise is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Ocean City, MD. The maximum depth is 121-130ft/37-40m.
With the sinking of the Gregory Poole, a retired 175-foot Navy minesweeper under the name USS Cruise and later a menhaden harvesting ship, DNREC has created a new artificial reef off the Delaware Coast approximately 26 miles southeast of the Indian River Inlet. The reef will enhance fisheries habitat, increase marine biodiversity and productivity and provide fishing and diving opportunities for decades
Initaly built as an Admirable class minesweeper for the US navy USS Cruise AM/MSF-215 was purchased by Beaufort Fisheries Inc. and coverted to a menhaden fisherman and renamed Gregory Poole oficial number 558835. On 10 December 2007 the gregory Poole was intentionaly sunk 32 miles off the coast to form an artifical reef.
