Hat Island is a boat accessible fresh water dive site, located at 2000 Camanche Road, Ione, CA 95640. The maximum depth is 81-90ft/25-27m. The average visibility is 11-15ft/3-5m.
Hat Island is in Lake Camanche and when the lake is full can offer dives to 80 feet. Most of the good things to see are 30 feet or less with a few exceptions. Hat Island is know for it’s bass fishing and you may find a few Largemouth Bass curiously, but cautiosly, investigating you. Wonderful rock formations on the southern and western side of the island provide for an unexpectedly interesting dive. Visibility ~10-15 feet. Accessable best by boat from either the north or south marina. Surface temperatures in the summer hold in the 60s while the bottom may be low 50s or colder.
