The Lighthouse is so named because a navigation beacon tower once stood on the rock point at the site. This site is home to a playful family group of sea lions as well as a long list of other sea life. Cortez angels, passer angels, colorful damsel fish, beaubrummels, eels, flag cabrilla, giant hawk fish, trigger fish, puffer fish, balloon fish, rays, guitar fish, octopi, and much, much more. Lots of boulder piles and cobble stone habitat lay from the shallows down to the flats at about 60 ft. Beyond the flats it drops off to more small boulders and green polyp black coral. Bivalves and gastropods can be found all over the place. There are NO services at the site. All supplies MUST be brought by boat from the mainland. Gary’s Dive Shop in nearby San Carlos, Sonora, offers full service expeditions to all the sites at San Pedro Nolasco Island.
