Mala - Spain

Loading...
Mala is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located at Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain. The maximum depth is over 150ft/46m. The average visibility is 61-70ft/19-21m.

Mala is a great site for novice and highly experienced divers. also for technical divers. The entrance is a jump or step from 0.5m at high tide to 1.5m at low tide... The bottom at the entrance is sandy and good vis with a max depth of around 2.8m. divers may then progress along a ridge wall of volcanic lava flow on the right, with stunning views 360 degrees and a depth from 12.5m/40-50ft... all the way down a steady sand bank to infinity.... 1500-2000m Currents can be present so do not leave the safety of the lavaflow wall bottom of wall to break into open water is at around 30m/100ft...

I have seen many large Atlantic rays, norwahles and even occasionally (rare) sharks.... This is a fantastic dive and I highly recommend the Calipso Dive Centre in Costa Teguise, for equipment and an experienced dive guide, the owner Peter Monk is friendly and the instructors offer SSI / BSAC / PADI / CMAS and ITDA... Enjoy. I have over 600 dives at this site and every dive was memorable... Cave Systems should be avoided unless you are Cave certified, many sea urchins and possible traps for inexperienced divers... Take a guide be smart!
