Fort Pierce Inlet State Park is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located at 905 Shorewinds Drive, Fort Pierce, FL 34949. This dive site has an average rating of 5.00 out of 5 from 1 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 16-20ft/5-6m. The average visibility is 11-15ft/3-5m.

Hutchinson Island is one of the most pristine and accessible coastal locations in Florida, and it is mostly known to locals. This is where the first U.S. Navy underwater demolition teams trained before World War II; these were precursors to the Navy Seals. A pristine beach on the north side of the Fort Pierce Inlet is barely affected by currents and does not get too much surf; the abundance of tropical fish makes it a great spot for snorkeling in Florida, and the clarity of the water is reminiscent of the Caribbean.

The inlet side of the park is still called Dynamite Point, as it was named by the Navy UDTs who exploded ammunition there.

Scuba diving is available; we have a reef about 100 yards from the beach. This is where you can explore our Atlantic ’underwater paradise.’ A ’Diver-Down’ flag must be displayed.

$6.00 per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle.

$4.00 Single-occupant vehicle or motorcycle.

$2.00 Pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass.

5/16/24 the wind finally settled down a bit and vis was up to about 10 ft

Just can’t get that nice vis I we had a few years ago. If you’re okay with low vis, this is a good site to dive just about any time without worrying about high slack

1/1/24 visibility was 6-8 feet. 70 degrees. The reefs look a healthier than they were last year

It doesn’t get deep but it’s a nice dive. I got in 300yds north of the jetty and had no trouble getting out to the reef, which starts about 200yds out. Plenty of fish and the parking is convenient. I gave it 5 stars because I’ve got nothing to complain about—I knew it wouldn’t get deep and there are bathrooms and beach showers. I saw mutton snapper, scorpionfish, grunts, cucumbers, porkfish, etc. The current is not overpowering (at least not north of the jetty)—you can go beyond high slack and still get back without extra effort. Nice beach too. I even saw people swimming on the inside of the jetty...there could be diving there if you can climb down rocks.
