Cool. I think it’s an old training platform. There are probably fragments of the "floor" buried in the silt beneath it. It doesn’t take as long as you would think to rust away even in fresh water. Considering how long recreational scuba has been around it may be old enough to have already been in a poor state in 1993 which may be why the local shop wasn’t using it. There’s one in Lake Murray in a similar state. The metal grating (with the thinnest material) has mostly rusted away.

I don’t think so. I remember doing a night dive on this back in 1993 and the owner of the local dive shop didn’t say anything about it. I looked it up in my log book and it was cool to be able to find it again. Now I made a map so others that go to Higgins Lake have another location to dive.
