Looks like a scorpion fish. We saw lots of these in the channel islands our trip in February.

It’s a Scooter blenny, stays on the bottom and eats very small pods. Was it about 2 inches long?

As I remember, it was actually bigger than that. I was very excited to have found it ’cause I’m always the last to spot things. :)

Nice shot with open fins. It is a rock or stone fish, we have several of those in Cozumel and they have some venenom in theire dorsal fins so be aware, they are always still and camouflaged to catch their prey. The colorful inside of their fins is displayed when they feel treath, usualy colorfull animals are not good food for other species so is a dissuasive mecanism.
