Does anyone know what language the the characters in the middle are? The top I believe is Aramaic. Just wondering where this is from. Not Chinese and would assume it borders an Islamic country. I would also believe the translator had little working knowledge of the English language.

Me thinks this may be a result of some bad translation! This from the JH McDonald translation of the Tao te Ching;

Depending on how one reads them, some chapters could have three or more interpretations, ranging from practical wisdom for the common man to advice intended for kings to even the odd medical recipe.

And if anyone has visited enrish.com you would know there is not only a problem with translating from a language but to egrish, I mean English! Then again it may be they just don’t like blue skies and clear rivers!?
