Believe me you want a muffler on anything being ran on compressed air. You’ve all heard those air impact wrenches at service stations. This thing would make those seem tame if it didn’t have one.LOL

does it use a gas engine to compress the air?

There is no compress on-board. It requires an external air compressor. You plug in an air hose to the car to "fill the tank".

I see that too, maybe it’s a filter to clean air more before it gets to the critical parts.
