I found it in the Cooper River, just North of Charleston SC. It appears to be solid rock now. I have found many pieces of clay Indian pottery in the river, but nothing this hard.
That is interesting about the clay paint jars.

What are they made of? Where did you find them?

I found some like that in lake Murray. They were hollow and made of clay . I was told they were used to hold paint and were usually placed in a burial.
