My name is Gideon, I have had the privelidge of studying in the Commonwealth of Dominica for a couple years now, and have finally picked up SCUBA as a hobby. I love it. I’m the kind of diver that enjoys the experience of diving first, and the underwater life second, so I don’t mind poor visibility as much as I might.
I am a fastidious diver, and prefer to, even when using computers, have a solid plan on dive charts including contingencies for greater than expected depth, and I prefer to dive my plan as closely as possible. Once in the water I am easy going but prefer to follow all diving advisories closely, and would not be a good dive buddy for someone who prefers not to. While I would not compromise the fun of a dive for the sake of rules, I would find extremely casual divers who like to go off on their own to be stressful, and would prefer to, regardless of how annoying it might be, really dive as a team.
I take dive safety very seriously, and have in the past been ready to cancel a dive due to an apparent equipment malfunction. After all, it’s only fun until someone gets hurt, and then it’s terrifying. (Fortunately, in that instance, alternate equipment was available, and the dive went as planned.)
I would love to share my dive experiences with anyone, and if you’re looking for a potential dive buddy that you can count on to follow all PADI recommendations and who you know will bail on a dive with you if you have to do so, then I’m your type.
