Actually, I snuck out on a fishing boat a few nights later and the things did glow! I mean, they were bright, like camera strobes going off underwater... Maybe about every 10 years a bunch of these show up and die on the beaches, the day after this picture there were hundreds of 30-pound squids covered the beaches, stunk up the whole coast, but they were cool though.
