Well, I went on my first quarry dive on Saturday. It was also my first low vis dive (~7 ft.). Overall the dive was not very good...my dive buddies were awesome (thanks Jeff and Mark V), but I just had too much going on at once. I dove with my own gear which is all new to me, so had to adjust for that. After fiddling with weight and buoyancy, I had to call the first dive after about 5 minutes because I was sucking more water than I was air.
After a surface interval and fiddling with my regulator and getting it adjusted, the 2nd dive was better but boy was I sucking air. My SAC was horrible. I think I was still nervous from my first dive. I just felt very constricted in my wetsuit and just could not relax. We’re going to Gilboa and Portage this weekend. Hopefully most of the kinks are worked out with my equipment, but have to rent a heavier wetsuit so have to go through re-weighting again. I love diving ;o)
Wish me luck!
