In Key Largo Fla. It is such an easy dive as well as a spititual dive. It is only 30 feet in depth and there is not to much more than the statue itself. BUT...it is one of those sights that everyone should see at least once. In the winter months, the water is in the low 70’s on average so you will need at least a shortie with sleeves to stay warm. in the summer, a skin may even be a bit too warm, A great location to make your dive site map when taking your Divemaster course

DMDave - 10/15/2012 5:30 AM Rating Added: 3 This particular dive site is special to me because the Christ of the Abyss statue has a plaque at the base of the statue that is dedicated to my original diving instructor Mike Kevorkian from the Tarpoon Dive shop in Hialeah, Florida. This is a shallow dive but well worth the photo opportunity to have your picture taken next to one of the most recognizable under-water landmarks in the diving world.

csemenko - 1/07/2009 11:59 PM Okay, the comment about there being nothing here but the statue is wrong...at least on 06 JAN 09...to me it was a shallow reef filled with coral and fish. Yes, it is more of a snorkeling paradise than a dive site; however, if you hug the bottom (15-24 feet) and swim between the coral you can see an abundance of life.(swimming above the coral puts you at 3-9 feet on average). It is a nice shallow dive which gives you loads of bottom time to explore...the one disadvantage is...any surge/wave action effects your diving.
