January 2018 - I can walk without any evidence that my leg was fubar previously on most days. I can even walk with a purpose. I can’t run, and they tell me I probably never will again. Of course, fat boy gotta eat - so I gained 65 pounds while I was unable to walk. Now goes the process of losing weight so that I can fit into my dive gear again. :)
April 2017 - Second surgical repair - I can walk...slowly.
June 2016 - I’m currently not diving. It sucks. I shattered the proximal head of my left tibia. I’m probably a year out from being able to walk again. While diving would probably be fun - I’m 100% non-weight-bearing on my left leg and using a walker to stand up and move from the bed to the couch. The surgical team rebuilt me with screws, rods, supports, and bone from a dead guy. So my ability to don gear is severely restricted - and my leg is pretty much in a constant state of pain. I’ll update this again when they allow me to stand on my own.
