What was no surprise to me was that I posted some photos on Facebook; Kent State (The woman on her knees over a dead body.), the photo of a Vietnamese general executing a prisoner and the photo response of Greg with some idiot shooting a fish (That photo was deleted!), with an auto loader, underwater and there was a response to the fish being obliterated rather than the other two, all senseless killings. Now, I’m NOT placing the life of a fish equal to the life a human, but the act of indiscriminate killing, an act that too many of us take as an obligation of ability, is simply wrong. As those who spend an inordinate amount of time, money, training with so many declaring our love of the sea and appreciation for the visuals in a foreign environment should we not promote the safe use of that environment inclusive of its preservation? To allow those things detrimental to that end is unconscionable, IMHO.

I wouldn’t do THAT, with MY 1911!
Worse of all it appears to be a Colt.
I’m hoping it was a blank and what we are seeing here is just pressure.
I guess in some cases (not many) Gun control actually makes sense.
Guns don’t kill people, Idiots shooting guns in pools kill people.
P.S. now everyone calm down I’m making a joke, lets not get on Gun Control.
There plenty of reasons to ban stupid people from owning scuba equipment.

As a diver and a past owner of a gun shop building carry 1911’s can see bunches wrong with this! Betcha his head was in breathable atmosphere! Shoulda used a stainless revolver. Lots of different pressure effects. Just sayin’.

Good points! Could you imagine having your ears underwater when the gun was fired.

On that note (?) think of the effects noise pollution has on sea life, especially whales, that not only hear these sounds generated by humans but sense it all over their bodies. How many times have you heard of someone touching a whale and exclaiming the sensitivity of their bodies? On the gun side, the pressures developed in the barrel of an automatic pistol with a closed bore full of water is potentially harmful to the weapon, not to mention the shooter and the increased drag on the action moving in a denser atmosphere, water, can help to multiply theses pressures further.

Was the gun ruined after that shot? I always thought soaking a gun like that would render it unusable? Of course, I don’t know squat about guns except what I’ve seen on TV and movies...

Gun would be fine. Just let it dry and apply some gun oil. Bullets are the biggest concern.

That is one way to fix an insta-buddy problem.

I heard H2Odysey is launching an underwater gun that shoots bubble rings up to 35 feet. In fact they debut at the Scuba Show this past weekend and I saw video footage of it. They look really fun. I’m getting one.
