Koloa Landing is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located in Poipu, Kauai - Hawaii. This dive site has an average rating of 3.70 out of 5 from 27 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 41-50ft/12-15m. The average visibility is 26-30ft/8-9m.
Probably the easiest shore dive site on Kauai. You can find many classes here. The lower parking lot has a couple Andy Gumps (Port-o-poti) as far as bathrooms go. If the parking lot is full from classes in the morning there is street parking 80 yards away and an easy walk. There is a boat ramp which makes the entry and exit a breeze, but the water near the ramp is murky and strewn with floating debit. There is reef to the left or right (East or West) with runs from 10’ - 45’ deep. The West/right reef was huge and went on forever, with lots of fish, and some turtles, but not many smaller critters that I found. The further away from the boat ramp you go the more coral you will find. The reef to the East/left was smaller with half the visibility of the West, but I found many more critters including many scorpionfish, and several different types of eels in the coral. A lot of wood debit is littered throughout this side so it’s not as pretty as the larger Eastern reef. All around a little bit of everything.
If you are coming from the docks Kauai Taxi 808-246-9554 is about $48 each way. If you need tanks, weigths or rental gear Kauai Down Under will meet you there for a price with a guide, seats, changing mat, drinks and snacks. LA
Koloa Landing at Hanaka’ape Bay is a very popular dive site, especially for scuba instruction. The entry is easy, and there is plenty to see to the left and right of the landing.
