I’m a mom/gramma and teacher. I have always loved the outdoors, though. Camping and light hiking are two things I really enjoy. As an Army brat, it seems I’ve always lived near water somehow, and I have always had a deep love for the ocean and lakes.
I hiked through the high points of snow-filled mountains in Germany to the border of Austria when I was 14. That was absolutely amazing! We slept overnight - all crowded together on this slanted board in this resort. I learned to do cross country skiing, as well. Girl Scouts as an Army brat was so much more exciting than the civilian scouts. We went on a four-day canal boat cruise in England. We steered the boat ourselves, cooked and slept on it, opened the canal locks.
Daddy retired when I was 17, so my high adventures became more limited as I settled into raising a family. But I’ve done a lot of camping (tent with campfire to cook meals on) and hiking with my children. I love to travel and have been in every state on the Eastern half of the United States - mostly by car!
